Umoya. Rooted in legacy, driven by values.

UMOYA CAPITAL was born from a simple but powerful idea: that true wealth goes beyond numbers. It’s about legacy. It’s about relationships. It’s about stewardship and the ability to create lasting, positive impact — not just for one generation, but for many to come.

We are a South African family office founded on values that have been passed down through generations — values of trust, integrity, community, and courage. The name UMOYA, meaning spirit, air, or breath in isiZulu and isiXhosa, is a reflection of who we are: a living, breathing family enterprise driven by purpose and guided by something deeper than profit.

Testimonials

“I was seventeen years old, just finishing school in a small suburb outside Damascus. My world felt limited, but I knew I wanted to make a difference — especially for women and communities affected by conflict. Umoya discovered my story through a youth writing initiative I joined after school. I had written about justice and rebuilding trust in post-conflict societies. They saw something in me — before I fully believed in myself. They offered me a full scholarship, helped me apply to law programs abroad, and even arranged a placement for me at a human rights law centre in Cape Town. Umoya didn’t just help me study law — they helped me build a life I’m proud to live.”

"I still remember the day someone from UMOYA visited our community health workshop in Soweto. I was 18, volunteering, passionate about biology, but unsure how I’d afford university. They saw something in me — and within months, I was enrolled at the University of Cape Town with full financial support. UMOYA didn’t just sponsor me — they walked the journey with me. Tuition, books, housing, mentorship, even wellness support during high-pressure years — they were there for it all. But more than that, I’ve become a mentor myself, helping guide other students coming up behind me."

"I come from a small village outside Marrakech where opportunities after high school are rare. I was the first in my family to finish high school, but I had no path forward. Then came UMOYA — reaching across borders, quietly changing lives. They offered me a scholarship to study education in Rabat. Today, I teach at a community school in Marrakech. I teach not just math and language, but hope — the kind UMOYA gave me. They reminded me that someone believing in you is sometimes all it takes."
